Transition in Opposition Leader Role

Paul Davis has chosen to step aside as the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Assembly, with Dave Brazil stepping into the role while the province’s Progressive Conservatives continue the transition process following the election of Ches Crosbie as Party Leader on April 28.

Davis said, “‎I fully support Ches in the work he is beginning to do as our newly elected leader, and believe the best way to highlight his leadership role and showcase our new direction is for me to step back, facilitating the smoothest possible transition. We are all in agreement that this is the best way to proceed as it provides clarity and allows the next steps in our building process to move ahead.”

“I’m also delighted that this gives me the opportunity to focus even more attention on some district priorities that are very important to me while I continue to share shadow critic responsibilities with my six colleagues in caucus,” he said.

Brazil will be the Leader of the Opposition in the House as of Monday, May 14 while Keith Hutchings will continue to serve as the Opposition House Leader. The spring sitting is scheduled to conclude at the end of May.
