Graydon Pelley

Board Bio: 

Graydon Pelley was born in Lewisporte and has lived in a number of communities in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. For the past 14 years, he has been living with his family on the west coast of the province. The last seven of these years, he has lived in Deer Lake in the beautiful Humber Valley. Graydon and his wife Debbie have five children, a son-in-law and two granddaughters.

Graydon has a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Elementary with a Geography Minor) from Memorial University. He has completed a number of theology courses from the International Correspondence Institute (ICI) in Ontario. Graydon has served on many education committees at the school, district and provincial level.

Graydon is currently a tenured teacher with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD). Prior to teaching Graydon, travelled as an itinerant speaker throughout Newfoundland and Labrador as well as other parts of Canada. He has owned and operated a radio broadcast, and had a prison ministry and a church ministry.

Graydon served a term as a provincial executive member with the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA). He has held positions on local branches of the NLTA as Branch President, Vice President, Secretary and School Representative. Graydon also served on local School Councils, community organizations and committees, including the West Coast Senior Hockey League at the executive level. He is a certified basketball official with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Basketball Officials (NABO). Since 2007 he has served has a director on the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Optometrists (NLOB). Graydon proudly supports the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation. In two years he has helped raise over $20,000 through the Caring for Kids Walks and other initiatives.
