St. John’s, NL (January 8, 2019) – PC Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie today said the delay in receiving the recommendations of the million dollar McKinsey Report means the report is unlikely to be reflected in the March 2019 budget, as originally promised by the Ball Liberal government.

Finance Minister Osborne announced today that the economic diversification report would be delayed until February. The September announcement of the commissioning of the report promised that “a final strategy will be delivered by the end of 2018 to inform the 2019 budget process”.

“They justified the report by the need to inform the 2019 budget process,” Crosbie said. “Late delivery proves the report is just an expensive Liberal Party propaganda piece, not part of economic strategy at all”.

Crosbie added that “The Ball government is using taxpayer dollars to pay a Liberal-connected firm to write Liberal campaign promises for this year’s election.”
